WITH A 'TOUCH' OF...

"I love Hitler" said John Galliano two years ago and it cost him his job as creative designer for Christian Dior.

And  Galliano who, a month ago came to New York, invited by De la Renta, to be part of his team in the new collection, is again in the 'eye of the storm' by dressing like Hasid, with long black jacket, and dark hat and curly "peyos", or sidelocks, to attend pal Oscar de la Renta Fashion week in New York. Act that has caused controversy in the Jewish community in a city with 2.2 million Jews.

Designer John Galleano wears  Hasidic-like garb In Manhattan when he was going to the Oscar de la Renta Show.

Since last month when Oscar de la Renta announced that former Dior designer John Galliano would be spending time with de la Renta in his studio (presumably to work on the fall 2013 collection), everyone was on the expectation on  his new collection.

According to the New York Post, was Vogue editrix Anna Wintour, a close friend of both Galliano and De la Renta, who has facilitated the collaboration to bring Galliano back to the catwalk. So was In January, when Ms. Wintour asked Mr. de la Renta to invite Mr. Galliano to take up a temporary residency in his New York studio, and Mr. de la Renta said he immediately agreed.

The New De la Renta Collection definitely has a 'touch' from the 'designer in residence' John Galliano. And we can see this in the new and creative silhouettes, with a Gothic language, that give a 'fresh air' to ‘the De la Renta signature'  and that reminiscent the last Galliano collection for  Christian Dior collection

The Galliano 'accent' is present in the hair and the four very different makeup looks, created for Revlon Gloval Artistic Director, Gucci Westman. Each of the four looks represents a different type of girl: East Asian jet-setter, sophisticate, urban chic and gypsy,” said Westman.

The Catwalk look is quintessential Galliano style: glossy, smoky eyelids and shiny finger waves. The man has a flavor thing from the '30s.

I love the elongated cloth hats, created for Patricia Underwood, who has a private studio located in the heart of Fashion District in New York City, for Oscar de la Renta fall collection, giving  a dramatic 'blinding' effect on the runway.

The 'Ikat' (word derived from the Indonesian word mengikat 'to tie')  dyeing technique were, the richest visual texture used for De la Renta in his new collection.

Although it was only a month of working together, I think the result was very good, although not completely merged styles.

"while Mr. Galliano’s creativity was well known, his work ethic was also “extraordinary.” Said De la renta.
Like me, he is a perfectionist,” De la  Renta said.

The Designer previously said that he was unconcerned about the backlash he might face for supporting Mr. Galliano, but some loyal customers were skeptical about the results after the show, so the time it will say.

Good or not, in the wake of this controversy, the subject of collecion step into the background but instead of that, both De la Renta and Galliano are headline news.

Good luck to the new Fashion fusion, a Faddish Fusion.

Enjoy the collection...
