GOLD AT THE CENTORIAL...

'Le Centorial’, located at 16-18 Rue du Quatre Septembre 75002 in Paris France, was built in 1878 as the headquarters of Crédit Lyonnais  an historic edifice that, in the 1990s, was the biggest bank in the world. For 120 years, the building graced the Parisian business district until a major fire destroyed it almost completely in May 1996.

French architect Jean-Jacques Ory, who also paints and sculpts, was commissioned to redesign it in 2001. While seeking to recreate its original appearance, salvaged facade parts some of which had been removed stone by stone from the site of the conflagration were reused or replaced with identical materials.

After restoration, behind the listed facade, which enjoys protected status as a historic architectural monument, a modern seven-story office building with three below-ground floors and a large atrium was created.
The unit offers premium office and conference facilities, a fitness centre, archive- and technology space and over 260 parking spaces.

The entrance hall area  is spanned by a cast iron dome that had survived the fire intact, and was designed by 'Gustave Eiffel' (1832 – 1923), the French civil engineer and architect, best known for the world-famous 'Eiffel Tower'.

The Atelier Versace Spring 2013  Haute Couture Collection at the Paris Fashion Week (PFW), was 'all about Gold' and Inspired by the 'Le Centorial', the subject focusing in the beautiful 'cast iron dome'.
  • The glass and the steel,” Donatela Versace  explained, “the fragility and the strength”, as the inspiration behind her glittering atelier collection.

One of the stand-out pieces was definitely a gold 'pinstriped' jacket with exaggerated shoulders. The 'pinstripes' were made of '24-karat gold', no less. Versace used her 'Midas' touch to turn everything to gold in this collection.

Standout pieces included 'mink' and 'tulle striped' shift dresses, short dresses and floor length gowns, with sheer inserts, and strong shoulders with 'pads in mink'.

Haute Couture is always a place where you can experiment,” said Versace. “We try to make things happen that have never happened before,” and this is what she was thinking about  when she made this white mink coat  featured with mirrors python and crystal embroidery.

A group of 'glossy' chiffon mini cut away gowns with synthetics laces in contrasting 'neon' colors  bordering the necklines, armholes, torsos, and  fitted with 'golden zippers', that are perfect for a divine pool party, closed the Versace show.

Enjoy the collection...
